Begin with Varaždinske Toplice and Aquae Iasae for historical depth. Move west into Zagorje for Krapinske, Tuheljske and Stubičke Toplice, allowing the roads, villages and forest edges to matter as much as the thermal stops themselves.
Continue north to Sveti Martin na Muri for vineyards and the Mura landscape, or extend east to Daruvar for a different Central European register of parks, spa architecture and town life.
The route works best across several nights. Resist turning six distinct places into a checklist; choose two or three and leave enough empty time for the slower rhythm that makes thermal travel worth doing.
